Laurent Pinsard (1944 - 2016)



As of 1962

Research on graphics as part of a research team from universities in Reims, France, working on photography. Started studies at the Vevey School of Photography (Vevey, Switzerland). Photojournalism on subjects including the Montreal World's Fair, Sculpture from the Middle Ages in Burgundy, personal work on the subject of nature, the Pan-African Festival... Personal work: drawing, silkscreening and sculpture. Participated on the "Albany" sculpture by François Stahly.




Publication of two black and white analog photography books (in French): "Eau sable et bois"  (Water, Sand and Wood) with poems by Anne de Staël, and "Vie" (Life). Several exhibitions. Published photojournalism reports on artists, sculptors and architects in journals and magazines in the fields of graphics, architecture and the fine arts. Advertising photography for L'Oréal, Guilleminot, Armand Colin, Pragma publicité, Titan, Forasol, and others.




Cabinet-making and inlay work using several species of wood from Provence, furniture-making for interior decorators, architects and private clients. Creation of a collection of jewelry made from wood based on the technique of graphic assembly of different woods. Collection sold in Parisian stores and at the Museum of Decorative Arts. Simultaneously with woodwork, continued photojournalism work, covering the Pope's first trip to Poland, Iran, Greece, oil-drilling in Africa and other subjects.




Photography for the Festival d'Avignon. One of the first professional photographers to work with digital photography. Photojournalism on Carnivals - in Venice, Basel, Binch and elsewhere. Commissioned work, cruises and travel.





As of 2000

Publication of the book "Traces" (published by Editions F. Delory). "Traces" continues in colour the approach undertaken in black and white in the book "Eau Sable et Bois". Text by J.C. Carrière. Exhibitions of prints from the book. Publication of a fourth book on "Artisans du Maroc" (Craftsmen in Morocco) published by Actes Sud. Exhibitions in Arles, Vaison-la-Romaine, Avignon and Paris. Post cards, calendars and posters published by several publishers in France and in Europe. Successful composition for IKEA. Participation in several festivals on the subject of nature photography (Vannes - Montier en Der - Pralognan). Travels in Egypt and in the Indian Ocean (Madagascar, Mauritius, Reunion Island).
